Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology and business services. Popular island destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, Tioman and Borneo’s resort areas provide hospitality work alongside city opportunities in Kuala Lumpur and Johor. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with English widely used in tourism and business. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, though rents are higher in major cities and popular resort areas. Employees enjoy tropical weather, excellent food, beaches and a relaxed social atmosphere. Foreign workers normally need a job offer and employer-sponsored employment pass or work permit before starting work; requirements vary by nationality and position. Applicants should confirm current immigration rules with the Malaysian embassy and employer. Resort relocation may involve staff accommodation, transport and limited access to urban services.
