Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology and business services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Its culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with diverse food, festivals and languages. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, though central Kuala Lumpur and popular resort islands can be more expensive. Langkawi, Penang and parts of Sabah provide relaxed coastal living, while Kuala Lumpur offers stronger transport, healthcare and professional networks. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, and the company generally handles immigration applications and approvals. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, tax obligations and relocation support before accepting an offer. Malaysia is warm and humid year-round, with heavier rainfall during monsoon periods that vary by region. Workplaces are usually multicultural, and respectful communication, punctuality and awareness of local customs are valued.
