Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, events, finance, retail and international business, with luxury hotels and restaurants concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the airport area. The culture combines Cantonese traditions, international influences, efficient public services and a fast-paced working style. Lifestyle highlights include excellent food, shopping, nightlife, hiking and easy access to beaches and nearby islands. Housing is expensive and space is limited, although public transport is exceptionally convenient. Foreign professionals usually need an employment visa arranged through an approved employer; eligibility depends on qualifications, relevant experience, salary and whether the role cannot readily be filled locally. Candidates should confirm visa sponsorship with Shangri-La before accepting an offer. Relocation normally involves securing accommodation, arranging health coverage, opening a bank account and obtaining a Hong Kong Identity Card after arrival.
