Job Description

The Assistant Front Office Manager supports the Front Office Manager in leading reception, concierge, guest relations, telephone, and other arrival and departure services. Requirements typically include a hospitality or business-related qualification, several years of front-office experience, and previous supervisory experience in an upscale hotel. Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and guest-recovery skills are expected, together with confidence using hotel property-management systems. The successful candidate should be service-focused, professionally presented, commercially aware, and comfortable working shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of local languages and experience with Shangri-La or other international hotel standards are advantages.

Company Info

Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts, and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. The group is known for its Asian-inspired approach to gracious hospitality, high service standards, and emphasis on genuine care for guests. Shangri-La properties range from urban business hotels to large destination resorts, offering accommodation, dining, meetings, wellness, and leisure facilities. In the Philippines, the company operates well-known properties in locations such as Manila, Cebu, and Boracay. Employees typically work in an international environment with structured operating procedures, guest-service training, and opportunities to develop within the wider hotel group. Exact benefits, salary, and career progression depend on the individual property, employment status, and the candidate’s experience.

Destination Guide

The Philippines offers hospitality opportunities across major destinations including Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol, and Davao. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, cruise services, and tourism businesses regularly seek front-office, food-and-beverage, housekeeping, and management staff. Filipino culture is warm, family-oriented, and welcoming, with English widely used in business and tourism. Lifestyle varies from busy city living to relaxed coastal communities; living costs are generally lower outside Manila, although resort islands can be expensive. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Alien Employment Permit and an appropriate work visa, commonly a 9(g) pre-arranged employee visa. Employers usually assist with documentation, but requirements can change, so confirmation with the Bureau of Immigration and the Department of Labor and Employment is important. Candidates should also check accommodation, transport, healthcare, tax, and contract terms before relocating.
