Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, facilities management, technology, finance and healthcare. Hotel engineering roles benefit from the country's busy tourism sector and high standards for building safety and maintenance. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally English-friendly, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Lifestyle options range from efficient public transport, hawker centres and shopping to parks, beaches and a lively arts and dining scene. Singapore is relatively expensive, particularly for rent, so candidates should compare accommodation and transport costs with the salary offered. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass; approval depends on qualifications, salary, occupation and government criteria. Employers usually guide successful hires through the application, while candidates should arrange passports, qualifications, references and medical or immigration documents before relocating.
