Job Description

The Service Manager – L&D / Service Excellence Manager is responsible for strengthening service standards, delivering training, coaching colleagues and monitoring guest-experience performance across the resort. Candidates should have experience in luxury hospitality, learning and development, service quality or operational management, preferably within an international hotel or resort. Strong communication, presentation and coaching skills are essential, together with a practical understanding of guest-service standards and performance improvement. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with department heads, identify training needs, support onboarding and promote a consistent Shangri-La service culture. Resort-island experience, flexibility, cultural awareness and the ability to work independently in a multicultural environment would be valuable.

Company Info

Shangri-La is an international luxury hospitality group founded in Hong6 Kong and known for its hotels, resorts and distinctive Asian-inspired approach to warm, personalised service. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other major destinations. Shangri-La resorts typically place strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, colleague development, sustainability and high operational standards. In the Maldives, Shangri-La operates Shangri-La's Villingili Resort & Spa, a remote island resort in Addu Atoll offering villas, dining, wellness and leisure experiences. Working for the company generally involves a multicultural environment, detailed service procedures and close teamwork across departments. Benefits for resort employees may include accommodation, meals, flights or travel support, insurance and recreational facilities, although the exact package depends on the employment contract and position.

Destination Guide

The Maldives offers hospitality opportunities mainly in luxury resorts, including roles in guest services, food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering, wellness, diving, sales and training. Resort life is different from living in Malé or a local island: employees often stay on-site, with accommodation, meals, uniforms and transport provided by the employer. The culture is welcoming and community-minded, while Islam strongly influences daily life; modest dress and respect for local customs are important outside resort areas. Island living is peaceful and scenic, but remote properties can feel isolated and supplies may be limited. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Approval and work visa, arranged after a valid job offer and medical checks. Confirm visa costs, flights, accommodation, leave, insurance and repatriation terms before accepting. Malé is the main gateway, and onward travel to resort islands is usually by domestic flight, speedboat or seaplane.
