Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, retail, logistics, technology and professional services. Popular island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman and parts of Sabah combine tourism jobs with relaxed coastal lifestyles. Malaysian culture is multicultural, shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, and English is commonly used in hospitality workplaces alongside Bahasa Malaysia. Living costs are generally moderate, although island accommodation and transport can be more expensive than on the mainland. Employees should confirm whether staff housing, meals, transport and medical coverage are included. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass or appropriate work permit before starting work; tourists cannot legally work. Employers usually handle much of the application process, while candidates need a valid passport, employment contract and supporting documents. Check current immigration rules and local conditions before relocating.
