Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers hospitality opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs, events and tourism, especially for candidates with international service experience. The city blends Cantonese traditions, British-era influences and a highly global outlook. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighbourhoods, hiking trails, beaches and extensive dining and nightlife. Housing is expensive, and employees should budget carefully; hotel staff accommodation or allowances may be available but are not guaranteed. Most foreign professionals need an employment visa arranged through an approved employer. The General Employment Policy normally requires a confirmed offer, relevant qualifications or experience, market-level pay and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Employers usually support the application, but approval must be secured before starting work. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, health coverage, banking and tax registration, and confirm working hours, service charge, meals and benefits in the employment contract.
