Company Info

Shangri-La is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets. The company is known for refined service, strong Asian hospitality values and properties ranging from urban business hotels to destination resorts. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands, with operations supported by teams in hotel operations, food and beverage, sales, wellness and guest services. In Malaysia, Shangri-La has established properties serving corporate travellers, leisure guests, meetings and events markets. Employees generally work in an international environment where service standards, relationship building, commercial performance and cultural awareness are highly valued. Benefits and compensation vary by property and seniority, but senior commercial roles commonly include performance incentives, staff rates, medical coverage and opportunities for regional career development.

Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, tourism, aviation, retail, technology, education and professional services. Major employment centres include Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor, while Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Tioman and Perhentian attract hospitality and marine-tourism workers. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in business, although learning basic Malay is helpful. Lifestyle costs are moderate compared with many international cities, with Kuala Lumpur offering urban convenience and the islands providing a slower beach-oriented pace. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass sponsored by their company, and the employer generally manages the application and immigration process. Candidates should confirm eligibility, contract terms, accommodation, medical coverage and tax obligations before relocating. Malaysia is warm year-round, but monsoon conditions differ between the east and west coasts.
