Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, catering, clubs and international hospitality groups, although competition is high and working hours can be demanding. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; respect, punctuality and professional hierarchy are important in the workplace. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking trails and beaches, but housing is expensive and living space is often limited. Hong Kong is a city and territory made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. Overseas workers normally need an employment visa arranged through an approved employer before starting work. The General Employment Policy usually considers qualifications, relevant experience, a confirmed job offer and market-level pay. Applicants should prepare passports, certificates, references and health or background documents where required. Employer sponsorship, accommodation planning and a realistic budget are important before relocation.
