The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of hotel, tourism, sales and business development opportunities. The country combines modern city living, beaches, desert landscapes, shopping and a highly international workforce. Arabic is the official language, while English is widely used in business and hospitality. The lifestyle is generally safe and convenient, although summer heat is intense and living costs, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, can be high. Employers normally sponsor an employment visa, residence permit and work authorisation; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Relocating workers usually need passport documents, medical screening and attested qualifications where applicable. Review the complete offer carefully for housing, transport, insurance, flights, gratuity and annual leave.
