Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism and guest services, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman and parts of Sabah provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and strong demand during holiday seasons, while city locations offer broader professional networks and amenities. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in hospitality. Living costs vary: resort islands can be expensive for accommodation, whereas local food and public transport are generally affordable. Foreign nationals normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval handled through the Malaysian immigration process; dependants may need separate passes. Candidates should confirm visa eligibility, housing, insurance, tax and relocation support directly with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
