Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, modern island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics, education, and professional services. The culture is multicultural, with Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences; English is widely used at work. Lifestyle is convenient and safe, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, green spaces, and busy business districts. Living costs, especially rent, are high, so compensation and housing arrangements should be reviewed carefully. Foreign professionals generally need employer-sponsored approval such as an Employment Pass, with eligibility depending on salary, qualifications, experience, and government assessment. Employers commonly assist with applications, while dependants may require separate passes. Relocation involves securing accommodation, arranging insurance, opening bank accounts, and adapting to a humid tropical climate. Singapore’s central location also makes it a useful base for travel throughout Southeast Asia.
