Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, aviation, finance, technology and healthcare. Hospitality jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, the airport and major business districts. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally safe, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle highlights include excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, green spaces and easy regional travel, although rent and daily expenses can be high. Foreign employees normally need a valid work pass arranged through their employer, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or other applicable permit; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and government requirements. Candidates should secure a written offer before relocating and confirm accommodation, medical coverage, tax obligations and pass sponsorship. Singapore has a tropical climate, so light clothing and readiness for frequent rain are useful.
