Destination Guide

The Philippines offers employment opportunities in banking, shared services, technology, finance, customer support, healthcare, tourism and business-process operations. Metro Manila is the main hub for international banks and corporate roles, while Cebu and Davao also have growing professional sectors. Filipino culture is generally welcoming, family-oriented and relationship-focused, with English widely used in business. Lifestyle options range from busy urban living, shopping and dining to beaches, mountains and island travel. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work visa or permit sponsored or supported by an employer; requirements depend on nationality and role, so professional immigration advice is recommended. Relocating to Manila usually involves planning for traffic, housing, healthcare, taxes and private education if applicable. Rental costs vary significantly by district, and expat-friendly areas include Makati, BGC and Ortigas. Local employment contracts should clearly state benefits, insurance and relocation assistance.
