Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, technology, finance and regional headquarters functions. English is the main business language, and workplaces are generally international, structured and multicultural. The lifestyle is convenient, safe and modern, with excellent public transport, reliable services, diverse food and easy access to nearby Asian destinations. Housing can be expensive, especially in central districts, while healthcare and education costs vary considerably. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and current government criteria. Employers commonly assist with applications and relocation, although approval is not automatic. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, insurance and shipping, and research neighborhoods such as Queenstown, Novena, Tiong Bahru or the East Coast. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so lightweight clothing and adaptable routines are useful.
