Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology and business services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Its culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with Islam as the official religion and English commonly used in business and tourism. Kuala Lumpur provides modern city living, efficient transport, diverse food and relatively affordable costs compared with many international cities. Island destinations such as Langkawi and Penang offer a slower lifestyle, beaches and established expatriate communities, while Sabah is popular for nature and diving. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the employer handling much of the application process; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and current regulations. Relocating workers should budget for housing deposits, insurance, transport and document processing, and confirm visa conditions before accepting an offer.
