English is widely used in hospitality, while Malay is the national language. Popular island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, and the Perhentian Islands offer beaches, diving, and relaxed weekend travel, although Kuala Lumpur itself is inland. Foreign employees generally need an employment pass arranged and sponsored by the employer before starting work. Candidates should confirm eligibility, medical requirements, contract terms, accommodation, tax obligations, and relocation support. Weather is tropical year-round, with heat, humidity, and seasonal monsoon rainfall.
