Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, tourism, food and beverage, property management, technology and international business, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi and Sabah. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous cultures, with diverse food, festivals and generally welcoming communities. Kuala Lumpur provides modern city living, shopping, healthcare and excellent regional flight connections, while islands such as Langkawi offer a slower coastal lifestyle. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must support the application before work begins. Requirements vary by nationality, salary and position, so approval should be confirmed with the employer and Malaysian authorities. Relocating staff should budget for housing, transport, insurance and deposits. English is widely used in hospitality, although learning basic Malay is helpful.
