Destination Guide

Langkawi is a relaxed Malaysian island known for beaches, rainforest, mangroves, waterfalls and a slower lifestyle than Kuala Lumpur. Hospitality is the main employment sector, with opportunities in resorts, restaurants, spas, wellness, tourism, marine activities, housekeeping and guest services. The culture blends Malay traditions with Chinese, Indian and international influences; modest dress and respect for local customs are appreciated. Daily life is generally peaceful, although transport is easier with a motorcycle or car, and peak tourist seasons can be busy. Malaysia uses the ringgit, and Langkawi is a duty-free destination for selected goods. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate employment pass before starting work; requirements depend on nationality and role. Relocation packages may include accommodation, meals, flights, medical coverage or transport, but these should be confirmed in the employment offer.
