Destination Guide

Mauritius offers opportunities in luxury hotels and resorts, construction, engineering, tourism, healthcare, finance, technology and education. English is widely used in business, while Mauritian Creole and French are common in daily life. The culture blends African, Indian, European and Chinese influences, reflected in its food, festivals, music and welcoming communities. Lifestyle is generally relaxed, with beaches, lagoons, hiking, water sports and a warm climate, although accommodation and imported goods can be expensive in popular areas. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit or Occupation Permit before starting employment; the employer usually manages much of the application process. Applicants should prepare passports, qualifications, medical documents, police clearances and employment records. Confirm whether the resort provides accommodation, meals, transport, flights, medical cover and permit costs. Bringing dependants may require additional approvals and financial documentation.
