Destination Guide

Mauritius offers opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and education. Hospitality remains one of the largest employers, particularly for candidates with experience in guest service, food and beverage, culinary work, housekeeping and management. Mauritian culture blends Indian, African, European and Chinese influences, with English commonly used in business and French and Mauritian Creole widely spoken in daily life. The lifestyle is relaxed and outdoors-oriented, with beaches, lagoons, hiking, diving, markets and a warm subtropical climate. Foreign nationals normally need a work permit or occupation permit before starting employment; the employer usually supports the application and relocation process. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, medical coverage, taxes and return-flight arrangements in the contract. Living costs vary, with coastal areas and imported goods generally more expensive.
