Destination Guide

Japan offers varied opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, resorts, tourism, food and beverage, and international hospitality. Tokyo provides the broadest employment market, while Kyoto, Osaka, Hokkaido and Okinawa offer strong tourism-related careers. Workplace culture generally values punctuality, preparation, respect, teamwork and careful attention to service standards. Life in Tokyo is convenient and safe, with excellent public transport, but accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Employees should be prepared for structured workplaces and, in many roles, some Japanese-language communication. Foreign workers need an appropriate residence status before starting employment. Culinary professionals may qualify through a Skilled Labor visa, while some food-service positions may use the Specified Skilled Worker pathway, subject to eligibility and testing. Employers may assist with sponsorship, documentation and relocation, but this should be confirmed in the offer. Research housing, taxes, health insurance and local registration before moving.
