Destination Guide

Seychelles offers employment mainly in luxury resorts, hotels, restaurants, tourism, marine activities, transport, retail, construction and public services. The culture blends African, European and Asian influences, with Creole traditions, music, seafood and a relaxed community atmosphere. Lifestyle is generally outdoors-oriented, with beautiful beaches, hiking, diving and water activities, although imported goods and housing can be expensive. English, French and Seychellois Creole are widely used. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Gainful Occupation Permit before starting work; the employer generally handles the application and related approvals. Resort jobs may include staff accommodation, meals and transport, which can significantly reduce living costs. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, contract length, medical requirements, flights and leave entitlements before relocating. Mahé has the widest services and job market, while Praslin and private islands offer a quieter, more resort-focused lifestyle.
