Destination Guide

Seychelles offers employment opportunities mainly in luxury hotels and resorts, restaurants, tourism, marine activities, aviation, construction, healthcare, education, and business services. The culture blends African, European, and Asian influences, with Creole traditions, music, seafood, and a relaxed community spirit. Life is tropical and scenic, but Desroches Island is remote, with limited shopping and nightlife; most recreation involves beaches, diving, fishing, cycling, and resort activities. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Gainful Occupation Permit, and the employer usually assists with immigration, flights, accommodation, and medical requirements. Contracts should clearly explain salary, service charge, housing, meals, leave, insurance, and travel arrangements. Costs can be high, especially on the main islands, while resort staff benefits often reduce daily expenses. Adaptability and respect for local customs are important.
