Destination Guide

Bahrain is a compact Gulf country made up of a main island and several smaller islands, with Manama serving as the commercial and cultural center. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology, construction and events provide regular job opportunities. The culture blends traditional Bahraini customs with a large international community; modest dress and respectful behavior are appreciated, while English is widely used in workplaces. Life is convenient, with modern malls, restaurants, beaches, museums and a lively weekend scene, although summers are extremely hot. Employers normally arrange a work visa and residence permit after hiring, while medical checks and document attestation may be required. Relocating staff should confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, leave, gratuity and any service-charge terms before accepting an offer. Bahrain is generally easy to navigate and offers good regional travel connections.
