Destination Guide

Mauritius offers opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, technology, education, healthcare and marine activities. Resort employment is particularly important, with roles available in food and beverage, housekeeping, guest services, spa operations and recreation. The island has a multicultural society influenced by African, Indian, European and Chinese heritage; English is widely used, while French and Mauritian Creole are common in daily life. Living costs vary, with accommodation near resorts and coastal areas usually higher than inland locations. The lifestyle combines beaches, water sports, hiking, markets and a relaxed social culture. Foreign nationals generally need an approved work permit or occupation permit before starting employment, normally arranged with employer support. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, salary, service charge, medical cover and relocation terms before accepting an offer.
