Destination Guide

Japan offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, technology, education, finance and international business, with Kyoto particularly strong in luxury hotels, culture, food and destination tourism. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, preparation, respect, teamwork and attention to detail. Kyoto provides a quieter lifestyle than Tokyo, with historic neighborhoods, temples, mountains and excellent public transport, although housing can be expensive and Japanese is useful for daily life. Japan has four main islands—Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku—plus Okinawa and many smaller islands, each offering different climates and lifestyles. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work visa, with the appropriate status depending on their role and qualifications. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, salary, housing, tax, insurance and relocation support before accepting an offer. International airports, rail connections and extensive local transit make travel throughout Japan convenient.
