Job Description

The Pathway Coordinator supports the smooth and timely movement of patients through NHS services, coordinating appointments, referrals, investigations and follow-up care. Requirements usually include administrative experience, strong organisational skills, accurate data entry, and confidence using electronic patient-record and office systems. The role requires effective communication with patients, clinicians and external organisations, while maintaining confidentiality and following NHS policies. Candidates are expected to manage competing priorities, monitor pathway deadlines, identify delays, and escalate concerns appropriately. Experience in a hospital, healthcare or customer-service environment is desirable. A calm, compassionate approach, attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work independently are important. Knowledge of NHS patient pathways and waiting-time standards may be advantageous.
