Job Description

The Estates Officer – Mechanical is responsible for managing, maintaining and improving mechanical building-services systems across NHS facilities. Requirements typically include relevant mechanical engineering or building-services qualifications, practical experience in estates or facilities management, knowledge of heating, ventilation, water, medical gases and plant systems, and familiarity with health and safety, compliance and permit-to-work procedures. The successful candidate should be organised, technically capable and confident working with contractors, staff and clinical departments. They will be expected to investigate faults, coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, monitor contractor performance, maintain accurate records and support statutory inspections. Experience in a healthcare environment and knowledge of NHS estates standards would be advantageous.
