Digital, IT & Data Assistant

United Kingdom Island City Practice £13.17 an hour*
Job Description

The Digital, IT & Data Assistant supports the practice with day-to-day IT administration, digital systems, data handling and reporting. Typical requirements include good digital literacy, confidence using Microsoft Office and healthcare information systems, accurate data-entry skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of confidentiality and data protection. Experience in an NHS, GP practice or other administrative setting is useful, although transferable technical and organisational skills may be considered. The successful candidate is expected to work reliably, communicate clearly with staff and patients, resolve routine issues, maintain accurate records, follow practice policies, and handle sensitive information professionally. A willingness to learn NHS systems and contribute to service improvement is also important.

Company Info

Island City Practice is a primary-care organisation serving patients in the United Kingdom, likely within an island community setting. As a GP practice, it provides accessible NHS services such as general consultations, chronic-disease management, preventive care, referrals, prescriptions and coordination with wider health and social-care services. The practice depends on a multidisciplinary team that can include GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, receptionists, administrators and digital or data staff. Its digital and information functions help maintain accurate patient records, support reporting, improve communication and ensure that clinical systems operate safely and efficiently. Staff are generally expected to protect patient confidentiality, follow NHS and practice procedures, and contribute to a respectful, patient-centred environment. The role offers experience in a community healthcare setting where technology, administration and quality improvement directly support patient care.

Destination Guide

The United Kingdom is an island country with varied job opportunities across healthcare, technology, finance, education, manufacturing and tourism. NHS and primary-care roles are available nationwide, although vacancies and salary levels differ between cities, rural areas and smaller islands such as the Isle of Wight. British culture is diverse and generally values punctuality, privacy, politeness and clear workplace communication. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to quieter coastal and rural communities, with public transport, cultural attractions and extensive countryside. Visa requirements depend on nationality: eligible overseas workers usually need an approved employer, a qualifying occupation and a Skilled Worker visa, while Irish citizens have separate rights under the Common Travel Area. Relocating requires planning for accommodation, National Insurance, banking, healthcare registration and transport. Checking the employer's sponsorship status and current UK government rules is essential before accepting an offer.
