The Assistant Psychologist supports qualified psychologists and multidisciplinary teams in delivering psychological assessment, intervention and recovery-focused care. Typical duties include supporting clinical assessments, preparing reports, facilitating therapeutic or psychoeducational groups, collecting outcome data, maintaining accurate records and contributing to service development or research. Candidates usually need an honours degree in psychology, eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society, relevant experience in mental health or care settings, and strong communication and organisational skills. The role requires compassion, professional boundaries, reflective practice, confidentiality and the ability to work effectively with service users, families and colleagues. Experience with NHS or community mental health services is useful but not always essential.
