Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics, education, and retail. The work culture is generally professional, punctual, multicultural, and performance-oriented, with English widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle options include excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, museums, parks, beaches, and a busy events calendar. Living costs can be high, particularly rent, though transport and food can be relatively manageable. Foreign interns and employees must obtain the appropriate work authorization before starting; common routes include the Training Employment Pass, Work Holiday Pass where eligible, and Employment Pass or S Pass for qualified employees. Employers normally advise on applications, but requirements vary by nationality, education, salary, and role. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, insurance, banking, and local registration in advance.
