Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with opportunities in hospitality, tourism, events, technology, finance, healthcare and education. The culture is multicultural and professional, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is convenient, safe and urban, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and waterfront attractions. Housing can be expensive, especially near the city centre, so many newcomers rent rooms or share apartments. Foreign hires generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; professionals may qualify for an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to current salary and eligibility rules. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, insurance and deposits, and confirm pass eligibility before relocating.
