Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and professional services. Its multicultural society combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and convenient, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Public transport is excellent, and popular attractions include Marina Bay, Sentosa, Gardens by the Bay and numerous food centres. Foreign professionals normally need employer-sponsored permission such as an Employment Pass or S Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and government assessment. Employers generally handle the application, but candidates should confirm current Ministry of Manpower requirements. Before relocating, budget for rent, healthcare, transport and deposits, and check whether the package includes insurance, relocation support or temporary accommodation. Singapore's warm, humid climate requires lightweight clothing and adaptation to frequent rain.
