Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, logistics, healthcare and retail. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly and service-focused, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, museums and vibrant neighbourhoods. Living costs can be high, especially rent, but public transport is efficient and salaries are generally competitive. Foreign professionals usually require an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, with eligibility depending on salary, qualifications, experience and government assessment. Employers commonly assist with applications, although approval is not guaranteed. Before relocating, candidates should budget for housing, deposits, healthcare, transport and daily expenses, and verify current work-pass rules with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower.
