Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, modern island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, aviation, retail, finance, technology, and events. The culture is multicultural, orderly, and generally respectful of punctuality, cleanliness, and service standards. Public transport is reliable, while housing and daily expenses can be high, especially in central areas. New arrivals commonly rent a room or shared apartment and use the MRT and buses for commuting. Foreign workers need appropriate approval before starting work; hospitality employees are generally sponsored under an Employment Pass, S Pass, or Work Permit depending on qualifications, salary, and applicable sector rules. Check current requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower and the employer. Singapore offers excellent safety, healthcare, and infrastructure, but employees should budget carefully for rent, deposits, transport, and meals.
