Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in technology, cybersecurity, finance, hospitality, healthcare, logistics and advanced manufacturing. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with excellent public transport, diverse food, modern shopping areas and easy access to parks and waterfront spaces. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central districts, so many newcomers compare condominiums, rooms and Housing Board flats in nearby neighbourhoods. Employment passes are normally arranged by the employer; professionals commonly use an Employment Pass, subject to salary and eligibility rules, while other roles may qualify for an S Pass. Candidates should secure a written offer, confirm pass sponsorship, budget for deposits and healthcare, and check current requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower before relocating. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
