Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and regional business services. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally professional, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle options include excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, museums, parks and lively neighbourhoods, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government eligibility requirements. Employers commonly assist with the application, but approval is not automatic. Relocating workers should budget for accommodation, transport, health insurance and an initial rental deposit. Singapore has a hot, humid climate year-round, with frequent rain, and offers convenient regional travel throughout Southeast Asia.
