Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and marketing. The culture is multicultural, organised and generally professional, with English widely used in workplaces. Life is convenient, safe and well connected through an efficient MRT and bus network, although housing and dining in central areas can be expensive. Popular neighbourhoods for newcomers include Tiong Bahru, Queenstown, Katong, Bishan and the East Coast. Foreign professionals generally need an appropriate work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, sponsored by their employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and current government requirements. Relocation planning should cover accommodation deposits, healthcare, transport and taxation. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. A valid employment offer and approved work pass are required before beginning work.
