Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in hospitality, tourism, technology, finance, retail, healthcare, education, and digital marketing. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient, and generally professional, with excellent public transport, reliable services, diverse food, and strong personal safety. Housing can be expensive, especially near the city center, so shared accommodation or areas close to MRT stations may be practical. International interns should confirm whether the employer arranges a Training Employment Pass, Training Work Permit, or another suitable authorization; working without approval is not permitted. Employment Pass and S Pass routes generally require an eligible job and employer sponsorship. Before relocating, check current requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower, arrange insurance, budget for deposits and living costs, and prepare for a hot, humid climate year-round.
