Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and textiles, IT, tourism, logistics, finance, engineering, healthcare, and agriculture. Colombo and nearby industrial zones provide the broadest range of professional roles, while Kandy, Galle, and other cities offer opportunities in tourism, services, and regional business. The culture combines South Asian traditions with strong hospitality, diverse religions, and festivals, and English is commonly used in workplaces. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, although Colombo is more expensive than smaller cities. Public transport is affordable, while traffic can be heavy. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment or residence visa sponsored or supported by an employer; a tourist visa does not permit employment. Interns should confirm eligibility, sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, and local work authorization before relocating. Sri Lanka has a tropical climate, scenic beaches, mountains, wildlife, and a relaxed social environment.
