The Technician – Research & Innovation role supports the development, testing and improvement of apparel products, materials, processes or production technologies. Candidates would typically need a technical diploma or relevant vocational qualification, practical experience in apparel manufacturing, product development, laboratory work or industrial technology, and good knowledge of measurements, testing methods and workplace safety. The role requires attention to detail, accurate record keeping and the ability to follow technical procedures. MAS would expect someone hands-on, curious and willing to experiment, troubleshoot problems and support innovation projects. Good teamwork, communication, basic computer skills and the ability to work with engineers, designers and factory teams are also important.

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, engineering, IT, tourism, logistics, finance and shared services. The country has a strong textile and garment sector, with many jobs concentrated around Colombo, Katunayake, Biyagama, Horana and other industrial zones. Sri Lankan culture is welcoming and diverse, with Sinhala, Tamil and English widely used in professional settings. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although Colombo is more expensive than regional towns. Employees can enjoy beaches, hill country, wildlife parks, historic cities and a relaxed outdoor lifestyle. Foreign nationals normally need an employment visa or residence approval arranged with support from the sponsoring employer; a tourist visa does not permit employment. Applicants should confirm current immigration rules, qualifications, medical requirements and relocation benefits directly with MAS before accepting an offer.
