Company Info

Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts, and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and North America. The company is known for its Asian-inspired hospitality, personalised guest service, and strong emphasis on colleague development. Shangri-La Colombo is located beside the Indian Ocean in the capital's central business and waterfront district, offering accommodation, restaurants, meeting facilities, and leisure amenities. Employees generally work in a multicultural environment and are expected to demonstrate courtesy, attention to detail, teamwork, and genuine care for guests. Benefits and employment conditions vary by property and position, but may include service charge, meals, uniforms, training, staff rates, medical support, and opportunities for progression within the wider group.

Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers hospitality opportunities in Colombo, Galle, Bentota, Kandy, Negombo, and the southern and eastern resort areas. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, travel companies, and wellness businesses regularly recruit people with customer-service and tourism experience, although wages are generally lower than in the Gulf, Europe, or major Asian markets. The culture is welcoming and diverse, combining Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed coastal or hill-country communities, with affordable food, beaches, wildlife, and excellent rail travel. Foreign nationals normally need an employment visa or residence permission arranged with employer support; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, taxes, contract terms, and service-charge policies before relocating. Colombo is relatively convenient, while resort locations may be quieter and more seasonal.
