The AVP/VP, Marketing Communication will lead Shangri-La's brand communications, public relations, media engagement, corporate messaging and integrated marketing campaigns in Hong Kong. Candidates should have substantial senior-level experience in marketing communications, public relations, brand management or luxury hospitality, preferably within an international hotel or consumer-facing organization. Strong strategic planning, writing, presentation, stakeholder-management and crisis-communications skills are expected. The role requires commercial awareness, cultural sensitivity, excellent English communication and the ability to work with regional and property teams. Cantonese or Mandarin, digital marketing expertise and established media relationships would be advantageous.
Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality company operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands, with properties known for high service standards, distinctive local character and a strong focus on guest experience. The group serves leisure, business, meetings and events customers and employs colleagues from many nationalities. Shangri-La places emphasis on Asian hospitality, employee development, responsible business practices and long-term relationships with guests and partners. A senior marketing communications position may involve corporate reputation, brand positioning, media relations and coordination with hotels and regional leadership across multiple markets.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, tourism, finance, retail, technology, events and communications, with major employers concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; English is widely used in business, while Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable for customer-facing roles. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighborhoods and excellent dining to hiking, beaches and nearby islands. Housing is expensive, although public transport is exceptionally efficient. Overseas hires generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, usually supported by a confirmed job offer, relevant qualifications and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Employers may assist with relocation, housing, medical coverage and flights, but packages vary. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, banking, insurance and tax registration after arrival.
