Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare, and retail. Its culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. Life is convenient and generally safe, with excellent public transport, diverse food, modern amenities, and attractions ranging from Marina Bay and Sentosa to heritage neighbourhoods. Accommodation and dining can be expensive, so budgeting is important; public transport helps keep daily costs manageable. Hotel employees may work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an S Pass or Employment Pass, and approval depends on qualifications, salary, occupation, and government requirements. Secure a written offer before relocating, confirm housing and benefits, and check current Ministry of Manpower rules. Singapore’s warm, humid weather makes light clothing and comfortable footwear useful year-round.
