Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport and a strong hospitality sector. Job opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and education. Cantonese is widely used, while English is common in hotels, business and tourist areas; Mandarin is also valuable. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences, offering festivals, markets, museums, hiking trails and a highly diverse dining scene. Lifestyle is energetic and convenient, though accommodation can be expensive and living spaces are often small. Foreign nationals generally need an approved employment visa before starting work, and the employer normally sponsors the application.
