Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country with a peninsula and many attractive island destinations, including Langkawi, Penang, Perhentian, Redang and parts of Sabah and Sarawak. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, technology, healthcare and shared-services sectors provide opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Langkawi and Kota Kinabalu. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in business and hospitality. Lifestyle costs are moderate compared with many international cities, although Kuala Lumpur and resort areas can be more expensive. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval depending on salary, qualifications and role. Relocating staff should arrange valid work authorisation, accommodation, healthcare cover and tax advice before arrival. Malaysia offers warm weather, varied food, good transport in major cities and easy access to beaches and nature.
