The company is known for warm Asian hospitality, personalised guest service and high operating standards. In the Maldives, Shangri-La operates Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa in Addu Atoll, a large island resort offering villas, restaurants, wellness facilities, recreation and extensive marine experiences. Employees work in an international environment serving leisure travellers, families, couples and high-end holidaymakers. Destination Guide

The Maldives offers hospitality opportunities in resorts, hotels, restaurants, diving, watersports, engineering, finance, sales, wellness and guest services. Most resort jobs are based on private islands, where employees live on site rather than in the capital, Malé. Life is relaxed but structured, with tropical weather, beaches, water activities and a close international staff community. Local culture is shaped by Islam, so modest dress and respect for religious customs are important, especially when visiting inhabited islands. English is widely used in resorts, while Dhivehi is the national language. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored work permit and employment approval before starting work; the employer usually manages the application. Contracts commonly include accommodation and meals, but candidates should confirm flights, insurance, leave, internet access and service charges. Relocation to a remote atoll may involve domestic flights or boat transfers and limited access to city amenities.
