Destination Guide

Maldives resort islands offer opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, housekeeping, culinary operations, engineering, marine activities, wellness, finance and guest services. Life is usually based on a private resort island, with staff accommodation, meals, uniforms and transport arranged by the employer. The lifestyle is scenic and relaxed, centered on beaches, diving, snorkeling and water sports, although islands can feel isolated and access to major towns is limited. Maldivian culture is welcoming and strongly influenced by Islamic traditions; modest dress and respectful behavior are expected outside resort areas. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and an employment approval before starting work. Contracts commonly include flights at the beginning and end of employment, medical benefits and paid leave, depending on the employer. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, accommodation standards, internet access, leave policy, insurance and visa arrangements before accepting an offer.
